Kitchen Beauty: 4 DIY Masks for Dry Hair

When it comes to haircare, right now we could use a big boost of hydration. Weather and hot styling tools tend to dry out hair and a little TLC is in order. Sure, you can splurge on a professional mask, but every once in a while when we need a beauty pick-me-up, we take matters into our own hands. We’ve rounded up four super moisturizing hair masks to DIY at home, all using ingredients right from your kitchen.

1. DIY Hot Oil Treatment

Indulge your scalp and hair with a warm hydrating mask made with three simple ingredients. All you have to do is mix virgin olive oil, coconut oil and some honey, then heat in the microwave for 20 seconds — voilà!

2. Avocado Mask

For a shine-reviving mask, mix a whole avocado (without the pit!), 1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Leave the concoction on for about 20 minutes before washing out.

3. Banana Mask

This mask smells so darn good, you’ll want to eat it instead of slathering it on your hair. To create this sweet-smelling treatment, you’ll need to combine 1 banana, 1/4 cup honey and 1/2 cup plain yogurt. Sounds delicious, no?

4. Egg Mask

Eggs are rich in protein, making them very popular for a hair mask that nourishes hair. When you add olive oil into the mix, you get a great two-ingredient mask that moisturizes and revitalizes hair.
