It has been pretty evident this year that Vogue Italia has been having an identity crisis with the lack of Steven Meisel month after month. Even with help from heavyweight photographers like Mario Testino and Mario Sorrenti, Italian Vogue has been struggling to deliver the goods. But that’s all just changed with the title’s July 2016 offering. Making her debut on the magazine cover is striking Italian beauty Vittoria Ceretti, who was given the honor of posing for Meisel while channeling Italian actress Virna Lisi in the fabulously glamorous cover image. Viva Italia!
The cover was just what our forum members have been craving for all these months. “Finally! Meisel is back in full force! Ceretti looks just stunning!” expressed miguelalmeida at once.
“Yes, I want glamour. Thanks so much for delivering it! I love this. It’s a simple but very powerful image,” kokobombon agreed.
Also in the mood for Meisel’s latest was Benn98, enthusing, “Wow, so simple and yet so breathtaking!!! Glad for Vittoria, could not have thought of another girl to front this. It feels very iconic, harping back to Meisel’s work mid-00s.”
Sharing the same attitude was ash92: “First Vogue Italia cover that I’ve said ‘WOW’ at in a pretty long time. Pure glamour, and how fitting for an Italian girl to front this.”
“Words can’t express how much I love this! My fav cover of the year. And as an Italian, I feel so proud of Vittoria! And I can’t wait to see the main ed. I wonder if it will be only Vittoria or multiple models? Anyway, the cover is flawless,” raved a more than delighted apple.
“Oh this is gorgeous. I love the simple portrait. And that hair is perfect. I literally laughed at the headline. ‘So you want glamour?’ YES WE DO. We really do,” screamed MON.
