Elle Fanning Stars on Vogue’s Enchanting Fairytale-Inspired June Cover

Vogue has been surprisingly daring with its cover shoots lately. It gave us a sultry Selena Gomez for April and championed Katy Perry‘s bold new look for May. Now, Vogue serves up an enchanting and ethereal cover for June 2017 featuring Elle Fanning. Having already covered Vogue Australia and Teen Vogue, Elle makes her American Vogue debut, photographed on location by Annie Leibovitz with Grace Coddington on styling duties.

Forum members had nothing but praise for the cover shoot. “This is so beautiful to me. Finally something different,” approved harricks at once.

“Finally! A decent cover for this magazine. I am in love with this,” declared a more than satisfied IndigoHomme. (more…)

Is Vogue’s Annual Met Gala Special Edition Issue Really Necessary?

Katy Perry, who recently debuted a new (somewhat questionable) look on the cover of the May issue of Vogue, now appears alongside Pharrell Williams on the magazine’s Met Gala Special Edition issue for 2017. Just like Taylor Swift on last year’s offering, the Met Gala co-chair appears in her Maison Margiela outfit from the evening in what appears to be a tabloid paparazzi shot, photographed by Mario Testino. Notwithstanding the odd cover image choice, we fail to understand why Vogue continues to release this annual special edition.

“Personally, I think these US Vogue Met Gala editions are a total waste. There is literally nothing inside that we haven’t already seen for free, splashed across Vogue‘s website or social media platforms. I wonder if copies actually sell on the newsstand (it would be interesting to see the sales figures),” pointed out vogue28.

“Like, who would by this when the pictures are all over the internet?” asked HeatherAnne, sharing the same sentiments. (more…)

Alexa Chung Suffers From ‘Tragic Styling’ on the Cover of British Vogue for June

Not long now until Alexandra Shulman exits British Vogue, making way for incoming editor-in-chief Edward Enninful. Like comfort food, Shulman has been turning to old favorites for her final issues, including recent covers with the likes of Kate Moss and Amber Valletta. Now, Alexa Chung returns for the title’s recently revealed June 2017 cover, photographed by Mario Testino. Alexa seemingly models the contents of her local charity shop in the cover image, while inside the issue shows off the debut collection from her namesake fashion brand, Alexachung.

Upon seeing the cover, our forum members weren’t a happy bunch. “Not a good angle for Miss Chung. This cover is yet another last gasp reminder that it was time for Alexandra to go. Already looking towards the new Edward era!” cried out zoom straight away.

“Jesus. Will someone just give that woman her P45 so we can all move on?” stated honeycombchild. (more…)

Vogue Italia Debuts a New Look on the May Cover, Starring Anna Ewers and David Friend

As Vogue Italia’s newly-installed editor-in-chief Emanuele Farneti puts his stamp on the Italian fashion bible, our forum members are still getting used to his creative vision. The March cover was a letdown and the last month‘s April cover story felt like imitation Steven Meisel. With the unveiling of the magazine’s May 2017 cover, however, there seems to be a glimmer of hope that things may begin to shape up. Anna Ewers graces the new cover, photographed in black and white by photographer Mario Sorrenti, posing alongside a shirtless David Friend while wearing a Max Mara sweater.

Are things looking up at Vogue Italia? “Stunning cover. Love the color choice,” commented forum member Style Savvy the second the cover came to light.

“Gorgeous! Anna is beautiful and I love the art direction; the yellow against the black and white is fantastic and I really like the type treatment. I’ve been hoping Vogue Italia’s graphic design would step up with the new editor, so fingers crossed they begin to update the look of it inside as well,” added LastNight. (more…)

Nicolas Ghesquière and His Louis Vuitton Muses Appear on Vogue Japan’s June Cover

These days, fashion designers seem to crave the spotlight and regularly accompany their muses on the pages and covers of magazines. Riccardo Tisci has appeared on the cover of Vogue Japan, Karl Lagerfeld has fronted Vogue Paris, and now Nicolas Ghesquière makes an appearance on Vogue Japan’s June 2017 edition. Having already appeared on the cover of Vogue Brazil with Selena Gomez, the Louis Vuitton creative director now poses for Patrick Demarchelier alongside muses Rila Fukushima, Lea Seydoux, Jennifer Connelly and Michelle Williams (all wearing Vuitton, obvs).

Given the magazine’s recent wave of success, was this enough to satisfy our forum members? “I don’t know why but I’m such a sucker for designers and their clique on magazine covers. This is perfect! Although it does have more of a November/December vibe to it,” stated KateIsGr8 straight away.

“I’ll take this weird Louis Vuitton gang over that Balmain Army thing,” RedSmokeRise reasoned. (more…)

Karen Elson’s Cover of UK Harper’s Bazaar Looks Just Like Town & Country

British Harper’s Bazaar continues to eschew the usual celebrity suspects in favor of cover models — not that we’re complaining. After an ethereal Lindsey Wixson cover last month, Bazaar welcomes back model-turned-singer Karen Elson for its June 2017 cover story. Taking things outdoors (once again), Karen was captured by photographer Richard Phibbs as she roams the perfectly manicured gardens of a stately home.

The cover made exclusively for subscribers (above) was the first to surface, but is it time for the Bazaar team to head back indoors? “I’ve seen enough content of this magazine to know that every single reader must own a country estate somewhere posh,” critiqued Melancholybaby at once.

“The background looks fake, the foxes look edited on the image. The covers are starting to look all the same,” pointed out MON. (more…)
