Though I’m somewhat of a grinch when it comes to the holidays (blame it on my being Jewish and not partaking in Christmas tree festivities and/or the fact that my family is always off skiing while I’m in the frigid NYC cold), and I’ve never been one to make a New Year’s resolution. I’m of the mind set that if you want to change something, you should do it now and not wait until some magical day when you hope your resolve, drive, and capabilities will suddenly change
However, I do think that a New Year calls for some pampering. Not because it’s a new year per se, but because this dreary weather means we have to shake ourselves up a bit and take extra steps to continue keeping those smiles on our faces and our bodies feeling rejuvenated. To that end, here are some ways to perk up now that the temperatures have started to drop.
Shobha – Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you should neglect your body when it comes to grooming. Shobha offers a zen atmosphere to get everything from your eyebrows to your bikini line waxed or sugared. Plus they stock some great products from one of my favorite lines, Sweespot.
Sports Club LA – This is my gym of choice (as well as that of Real Housewives of New York City Bethany Frankel, whom I used to spot on occasion pre her pregnancy rumors). They have an endless array of truly invigorating classes.
iZO Cleanze – Favored by the likes of Erin Wasson, Patricia Heaton, Emily Deschanel, and Daisy Fuentes, iZO offers a no-stress delivery service that brings fresh organic juices, teas and superfoods right to your doorstep (plus it’s so natural that the founder, Tim Martin, survived on nothing but his juices for 100 days!).
DEX – Nothing like some color to pep up your spirits. While DEX’s pure mineral makeup can be purchased from your couch anywhere in the world, for those in NYC, stop by their Studio and get your makeup professionally done.
OC61 – Because the lack of sun leaves most of us blondes with hair that’s darker than we’d like, head to the celeb-favored Upper East Side salon for some faux-sun kissed locks, or just a revamped hairdo courtesy of some of the most renowned hands in the haircare industry.
The Plaza Beauty by Warren-Tricomi – Often overlooked given its basement location, here you can stock up on everything you need to soothe your mind, body, and spirit at this lower level make-up mecca.
