CHANEL RESORT 2011 AND LAGERFELD’S FILM

Karl Lagerfeld truly is an artist of boundless talents. He is always at the forefront of innovation, whether it’s being the first designer to incorporate Blackberry pockets into luxury handbags over at Fendi, or because of his choice of models for his runway shows and campaigns. And even though he is rumored not to like using a computer, he shows his tech savvy as an avid photographer, and now as a filmmaker. Most recently, the German designer shot a nude and very pregnant Claudia Schiffer for the cover of German Vogue, and a trailer for his short film, Remember Now, has just been released.

The 17-minute film, shot in Saint Tropez, features actors Elisa Sednaoui, Pascal Greggory, and Jean-Roch, alongside models such as Freja Beha, Jake Davies, Magdalena Frackowiak, and Leigh Lezark. The film is being released in tandem with the 2011 Chanel Resort show, which also took place in Saint Tropez this year. According to WWD, who sent reporters to cover the screening, the film "captured the good-natured summer hedonism of this storied playground of the rich and beautiful."

While it may still be early in the summer vacation season to head to the South of France, this year’s resort show sure seems to be well on its way to topping last year’s in Miami. The fashion world was buzzing about the Chanel show way before it even took place, when news of the models who would be gracing the catwal – including Georgia May Jagger and plus size model Crystal Renn – began to leak. Stars including Diane Kruger, and the new face of Coco Cocoon, Vanessa Paradis, were all on hand for the festivities.

It seems no one will outdo Karl, with the exception of Karl himself.
