As I write this from Central America in Nicaragua, I couldn’t feel further removed from New York City’s fashion hoopla (although they do have a wide variety of croc purses, to consider that Nicaragua has any sort of a fashion scene would be more than a stretch). While the weather is gorgeous and the landscape is relaxing in its desolateness, I can’t wait to get back to New York City and begin prepping for New York Fashion Week. This coming Fall/Winter season will take place from February 11th to the 18th for the last time in the Bryant Park Tents before Mercedes Benz Fashion Week re-locates to Lincoln Center in September for the Spring/Summer shows.

In a press release, Peter Levy – SVP and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide which overseas MBFW – remarked: “As we close a chapter in the history of our event, IMG is excited to be working with Lincoln Center, the CFDA and the City to create a new home for the fashion industry at Lincoln Center.  are looking forward, with our partners, to rolling out our plans in the coming months.”

For her part, poster child for NYFW Fern Mallis (aka SVP of IMG Fashion), noted: “all of us at IMG Fashion are excited about the outstanding and stellar line-up which has come together from around the world to share in this historic Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This will be a significant season, as we reflect on 17 years, 31 seasons, and close to 2,500 fashion shows in Bryant Park that have launched many careers….from Designers to Editors, Models, Producers, Celebrities, TV Commentators, and Reality Shows. We all also look forward to the change – and September’s move to Damrosch Park in Lincoln Center.”
